Summer Reading Kick-Off
The Jessamine County Library Summer Reading Program held their Kick-Off Event on Sunday, May 3. Festivities included drawings for Ichthus Festival Tickets, inflatables, temporary tattoos, sand castle building, and food from area vendors. The Summer Reading Program runs from June 8 to July 26 and offers programs and reading incentives for all ages. For more information call (859) 885-3523 or visit www.jesspublib.org.
BE AN ICHTHUS WORKER
Ichthus is seeking security and traffic workers for the 2009 Christian Music Festival. If you would like to help Ichthus, go to www.ichthusfestival.org , click on Get Involved and then “Be An Ichthus Worker,” or you can call the office at (859) 858-3001. Those that have already purchased tickets that would like to help out by working will get their tickets refunded. For this option, please call the office. The festival begins Wednesday, June 10 and continues through Saturday, June 13.

ASBURY STUDENT AWARDED
“TEACHER OF TOMORROW” SCHOLARSHIP
Emily Stevens, a graduating senior in elementary education at Asbury College, was selected to receive the Kentucky Association of Professional Educators/Association of American Educators Foundation (KAPE/AAEF) scholarship. As a high school senior, Stevens had the opportunity to participate in an education program that provided a practicum experience. With a supervisor, she prepared lesson plans and taught students in a 10th grade English class for three weeks. In the summer of 2008, Stevens was a member of a team of Americans who conducted a summer intensive English program for Chinese teachers of English in the People's Republic of China.
