Roll 'em in to the Tire Amnesty Program
Jessamine County residents are encouraged to dispose of unwanted tires at no charge during a Tire Amnesty Program made possible through the Kentucky Division of Waste Management. Tires will be accepted at the Jessamine County Road Department, next to City/County Park from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 9 through Saturday, July 11. The collected tires are recycled and used in various ways including basketball courts, playgrounds and roads. The Tire Amnesty Program will not accept tires from tire retailers or agricultural tire retailers. ADULT ED SUMMER SCHEDULE
Beginning July 7, Jessamine County Adult Education will have open enrollment and testing for adult learners on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 p.m. to 7 p.m. Call (859) 887-9052.
JESSAMINE STUDENTS AT FOSTER MUSIC CAMP Nine Jessamine County students are participated in the 74th annual Stephen Collins Foster Music camps at Eastern Kentucky University during June. The camps are offered for vocal, wind, string, guitar, drum and piano students in middle school and high school. The camp is led by EKU faculty and professional musicians and music educators from across the country. A high percentage of Foster Camp participants earn college scholarships. Participating students included Richie Powers, Emmalee Huzi, Jessica Abercrombie, Jessica Meek, Lindsey Burton, Celine Marx, JoAnn Swintosky, Katie Sutton and Scott Sams.
RICHARDSON, BRUMFIELD RECEIVE TRANSY AWARDS
Lew Richardson was given the Kappa Alpha Vincent Mongiardo Cup, which recognizes a first-year man of character, leadership and academic competence. Richardson is the son of Mary Richardson of Nicholasville.
Jacob Brumfield was given the Junior Class Award, which is presented annually to the student in each class with the highest cumulative grade point average. Brumfield, a business administration major, is the son of James and Janet Brumfield of Wilmore.
