Disney Star Dean Jones To Visit Asbury
Former Disney actor Dean Jones will visit Asbury College Saturday, June 27 to attend the groundbreaking for a new communication arts center. Dean, who attended Asbury College in the early 1950s, will serve as honorary building campaign co-chair along with his wife Lory. The state-of-the-art facility will address the needs of the more than 300 Asbury students that are majoring in journalism, communications, media communication, and theatre and cinema performance. The new facility will be named in honor of Asbury College Alumnus, former Board of Trustees member and retired Salvation Army Commissioner, Andrew S. Miller. More at www.asbury.edu .

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday, June 5 to mark the new location of Nicholasville NOW at 100 West Oak Street. Refreshments were provided by Main & Maple Coffeehouse and Café. Nicholasville NOW is a Kentucky Main Street Program.

The Jessamine County School Board has announced the Teachers of the Year for 2008-2009. Tracy Gatliff, Brookside Elementary; Joshua Logsdon, Nicholasville Elementary; P.J. Burns, Rosenwald Elementary; Bridey Egan, Warner Elementary; Jamie Loughry, Wilmore Elementary; Katie Adams, Early Learning Village; Susan Gordon, East Middle; Cindy Clay, West Middle; Hallie Brinkerhoff, West High; Erika Webb, East High; Kendall Kearns, Career & Technology Center; and Joyce Bruner, Providence. Teachers are nominated by parents, students, faculty and administration. Three of these nominees will be selected for the Excellence in Education Award, which will be presented in August.
