An Eastern Kentucky University professor will receive the highest honor possible from the Sierra Leone Institute of International Law during a banquet next month.
Bankole Thompson, a professor of criminal justice studies at the university, is a native of the West African country. Thompson and four others will be recognized as fellows during a dinner on April 25, according to a news release from the university.
The award is presented to Sierra Leoneans and foreign nationals "who have excelled in the teaching, wider appreciation and dissemination of international law in Sierra Leone and the sub-region."
Thompson joined the faculty at Eastern in 1995 and formerly served as dean of graduate studies.
