One person was shot in the leg while walking alone in North Lexington on Sunday night, police said.
The man told police he was on Ohio Street near the East Fourth Street intersection about 9:30 p.m., when a dark sport-utility vehicle pulled up alongside him, Lt. Chris Van Brackel said.
The victim, who is in his 20s, said he saw a gun barrel poke out of a cracked window and heard gunshots. He collapsed on the sidewalk and the SUV pulled away.
His injury did not appear to be life-threatening, Van Brackel said. He was conscious and talking as he was being taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
Police did not identify the victim. Officers were searching for the SUV on Sunday night.
It was too early to say what prompted the shooting or how many shots were fired, Van Brackel said.
