Paris trick-or-treaters injured in police chase

STAFF, WIRE REPORTS

Police say a man was arrested late Saturday night after he led them on a high-speed chase that started in Scott County and ended in Bourbon County, according to WLEX-TV (Channel 18).

The man nearly hit a cruiser head on and crashed into a car full of kids who had just finished trick-or-treating, WLEX-TV reported.

Russell Gibson, 36, of Lexington was being held at the Scott County jail Sunday on a $20,000 full cash bond, according to jail officials. His charges included first-degree fleeing and evading, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, wanton endangerment, wanton endangerment of a police officer, speeding and reckless driving.

A woman told WLEX-TV her husband's truck was pushed into a ditch near Wal-Mart on the Paris bypass after Gibson ran into the vehicle. She said two of her children — ages 12 and 13 — were treated and released from University of Kentucky Hospital.
