closeMore than a dozen people have been sentenced in a case involving a conspiracy to distribute more than 5,000 pounds of marijuana in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Massachusetts, a federal prosecutor announced Wednesday.
The defendants included two men from Kentucky.
A federal judge sentenced Ralph Michael Hughes, 39, of Kings Mountain, in Lincoln County, to seven years in prison, according to a news release from Candace G. Hill, U.S. Attorney for the western half of Kentucky.
More news about police and courts Robert "Fritz" Sheene, of Yosemite, in Casey County, has pleaded guilty, but has not been sentenced, the news release said.
Defendants from Arizona, Ohio and Colorado were sentenced this week in federal court in Bowling Green along with Hughes, Hill said.
The conspiracy involved smuggling marijuana from Arizona for distribution in other states. The drug ring distributed pot worth more than $8 million, according to the release.
