Lanes to be closed for South Limestone roadwork

- kward1@herald-leader.com

In addition to the work that has already closed part of Limestone Street, more lane closures are coming farther south along the thoroughfare because of two other projects.

Beginning Wednesday night, one lane of South Limestone will be closed in each direction between Waller and Gazette avenues Mondays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while work is done on a pedway being built by the University of Kentucky.

That work will continue through March 25, although no work will be done on holidays or when there are UK men's basketball games at Rupp Arena or major concerts downtown, according to a press release from the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.

And this weekend, Nicholasville Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Central Baptist Hospital and Arcadia Drive while a damaged pipe is replaced.

The work will begin at 12 a.m. Saturday and is expected to be finished by 5 a.m. Monday, according to the state Transportation Cabinet.
