2 injured in Lexington house fire

- aclark@herald-leader.com

At least two people were injured Wednesday in a fire at a home at 1017 Spring Run Road.

Fire crews responded to a call about a possible rescue at 10:53 a.m. When they arrived, they were told there were people inside, Lexington fire Battalion Chief Harold Hoskins said.

Hoskins said two people had escaped the house, but firefighters found a woman unconscious on the floor inside. The firefighters removed her with the help of police Officer Keith Todd, Hoskins said.

The unidentified woman and Todd were taken to University of Kentucky Hospital. Todd's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Hoskins said.

The battalion chief said there was mostly smoke damage in the home. He said a small fire started in a bathroom. It wasn't immediately clear what caused it.
