One man is dead and his brother shot after an argument Wednesday in Deane in Letcher County.
Leslie Hughes fired several shots at his brother, Danny Hughes, hitting him once in the leg, Kentucky State Police said in a press release. The Jenkins police department, Letcher County sheriff's department and state police were called about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and found that Leslie Hughes had fled to the woods. After a standoff with police, his body was found, and the Letcher county coroner said he apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot, state police said.
Danny Hughes was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn., and was in stable condition, police said.
