Kentucky Theatre to host international film fest

The Kentucky Theatre will present Global Lens, a 6-year-old showcase of international filmmaking, from Oct. 2 to 7.

Tickets are $4.50 for all shows before 6 p.m. Evening shows are $6.50 adults and $5 ages 60 and older and 13 and younger. The theater is at 214 East Main Street.

This year's features from the library of the Global Film Initiative are:

Margaretta's Feast (2002, Brazil): The chairman's choice selection, it is a silent film with Brazilian music backing a "little-guy-against-the-world" story. Shows at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 2, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4.

Getting Home (2007, China): A construction worker travels to fulfill a dying co-worker's wish to be buried in China's Three Gorges region. 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2, 9:30 p.m. Oct. 4.

I Am From Titov Veles (2007, Macedonia): Three sisters try to get out of a dying community. 9:40 p.m. Oct. 2, 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

Mutum (2007, Brazil): The hopeless life a Brazilian farm boy is changed by an unexpected gift. 1:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 9:45 p.m. Oct. 5.

My Time Will Come (2008, Ecuador): An isolated coroner develops an oddly personal connection with the cases he has. 3:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

The Photograph (2007, Indonesia): A dying portrait photographer takes in a singer and prostitute as an apprentice. 5:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 9:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

Possible Lives (2007, Argentina): A woman searching for her missing husband finds a man who looks a lot like him but with a different name and another wife. 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7.

Sleepwalking Land (2007, Mozambique): An orphan boy and an old storyteller journey through war-torn Mozambique to find the boy's mother. 9:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7.

Song From the Southern Seas (2008, Kazakhstan): The birth of a child disrupts the harmony of a Russian couple and a Kazakh couple living side-by-side in isolation. 1:30 p.m. Oct. 4, 5:30 p.m. Oct. 8.

Those Three (2007, Iran): Three draftees to the Iranian military desert and try to escape through frozen Northern Iran. 3:30 p.m. Oct. 4, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8.

What a Wonderful World (2006, Morocco): A traffic cop and contract killer fall in love. 5:30 p.m. Oct. 4.
