With a five-plate special, crab is king at Jonathan at Gratz Park

Jonathan Lundy, chef/owner of Jonathan at Gratz Park, is serving king crab in traditional and innovative ways this weekend.

The king crab tasting menu features five small plates: crab Rangoon; deviled crab brûlée (a spicy custard with crab and a burned-sugar topping), king crab Louie salad, chilled crab and corn chowder, and petite veal Oscar with crab meat and asparagus. The cost is $45.

The dessert, $8, is a petite baked Alaska.

It'll be patriotic to eat out

Saul Good Restaurant & Pub is joining Military Missions Inc. to raise money for Kentucky soldiers.

On July 4, the restaurant will offer half-price menu items as an incentive to generate donations for the program, which provides care packages for every Kentucky soldier deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Market moves for a day

The Lexington Pride Festival will be at Cheapside Park on Saturday, so the Lexington Farmers Market will move to Maxwell Street and South Broadway.

"It's just for that day only," farmer Susan Miller said. "We'll be back at Cheapside the next Saturday."

Fresh this week at the market are tomatoes, bok choy, cucumbers, broccoli and cauliflower.

Another chance to buy fresh

The Woodford County Farmers Market now is open 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays at Falling Springs Recreation Center in Versailles.

The market also is open 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays on Main Street in the parking lot of Versailles Presbyterian Church and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at Courthouse Square.

This week, farmers will have steaks, ribs, black raspberries, blackberries, sorghum, summer squash, beer cheese, zucchini, black walnuts, new potatoes, onions, broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, leeks and June apples.

Farmers market report

The Bluegrass Farmers Market will have blueberries, raspberries, rhubarb, cabbage, cucumbers, fingerling and new potatoes, lettuce mixes, greens, onions, summer squash, herb seasonings and honey.
