LexArts names youth council members

LexArts announced members of its new Youth Arts Council this week.

The council was created to give area youth a leadership role in creating arts in Lexington and Central Kentucky. It will meet regularly starting Oct. 19.

The committee is:

Lucy Arthur-Paratley, Alexie Basil and Chelsea Gess, Bryan Station High School; Andrea Ayoroa, Josie Degler, Jillian Dunaway, Anderson Gumm, Ashley Gumm, Katie Luy and Nisha Mulay, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School; Chris Banks, Tates Creek High School; Genevieve Borrowdale-Cox, Colleen Craven and Ben Tucker, Sayre; Alexandra Dantchenko, Elliott Mattox, Sydney Steele, Blake Sugarman, Ellie Todd, Wood Van Meter, Adela Wilson and Jacob Yates, Lafayette High School; and Jennifer Hicks and Ciara Thomas, Lexington Catholic High School.

The council will be overseen by an advisory committee of area arts and education leaders, including LexArts president and chief executive Jim Clark.
