Lots of local restaurants are having specials and buffets for Easter Sunday on April 5. Some are already booked but here are a few places that may still have availability:
Bayou Bluegrass Catering, which usually has special buffet events at The Red Mile clubhouse, has a new venue. Copper Roux, 861 S. Broadway, will be opening with all the bells and whistles later this month with a diverse menu of farm-to-table ingredients.
But what to do about Easter, while The Red Mile is under renovation? Bayou Bluegrass owner Matt Falcone said that they will have an Easter buffet at the new place, 861 S. Broadway. Reservations suggested; (859) 621-3912.
Brontë Bistro in Joseph-Beth Booksellers, 161 Lexington Green, will have a very Kentucky brunch, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu includes shrimp and grits, veggie hot brown, biscuits and gravy, bread pudding with bourbon sauce, salmon croquettes, bourbon chocolate pie and beignets, all priced a la carte. Alfalfa Restaurant, 141 E. Main St., will have an Easter brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., that will include: Broadbent country ham steak, served with two eggs, red-eye gravy and grits or potatoes; salmon hash with poached eggs hollandaise on crumpets; and blueberry blintzes with cardamom lemon cream.
Doodles, 262 N. Limestone, will have Easter breakfast specials: A maple strawberry whole wheat waffle, coconut and blood orange French toast made with Bluegrass Baking Company's 7-grain bread layered with fresh coconut, smothered in custard, all topped with a blood orange syrup, and eggs Benedict. Portofino Restaurant, 249 E. Main St., will have special hours for Easter dinner, open from noon to 9 p.m., with seasonal specials plus the full dinner menu. Free parking. Call (859) 253-9300 for reservations.
Serafini, 243 W. Broadway in Frankfort, will be serving from noon to 6 p.m. Chef Tim McGowan is preparing roast beef, roast lamb on risotto and baked ham in addition to the full menu. Call (502) 875-5599 for reservations.
Brasabana, 841 Lane Allen Road will have an Easter brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring tropical salad, chicken empanadas, leg of lamb, garlic and lime-dusted New York strip, blackened salmon, jalapeno-cilantro mashed potatoes, and more for $24.95 per person. Azur Restaurant and Patio, 3070 Lakecrest Circle, will have an Easter brunch menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appetizers and brunch entrees include lobster crepes, smoked bacon cornbread; citrus and sorghum glazed lamb over Lowcountry succotash and roasted new potatoes; country ham primavera, crab cakes Benedict with jalapeño cornbread.
