With Keeneland in full swing and Derby just around the corner, April is the hottest hat-buying time of the year in Kentucky.
Lucky for you there are plenty of special shopping events to help you find the perfect topper.
A turban might not be the first idea that comes to mind when you think of Derby hats, but Louisville-based milliner Nina Rosenberg's stylish creations might just change your mind.
Rosenberg is a graduate of the Parsons School of Design and spent time in the studios of Ralph Lauren and Alexander Julian. Her creations feature design elements borrowed from turbans and '20s-era flapper cloches accented with vintage jewelry and handmade fabric flowers by Bri Bowers.
You'll find Rosenberg's hats at Revelry Boutique-Gallery in Louisville through Derby. All of them are $295. Revelry is at 980 Barret Avenue through April 24, when it is scheduled to move to its new store in Louisville's hip NuLu neighborhood at 742 East Market Street.
Manhattan milliner Christine A. Moore, known for her classic wide-brimmed hats and unique modern designs, will be at the Keeneland Gift Shop for a trunk show Thursday through Sunday.
And Tribeca Trunk at 116 Old Lafayette Avenue will host an Off to the Races Dress and Hat Trunk Show, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
Hats from Winslow & Ellsworth by Lexington milliner Blythe Winslow Savage will be shown, along with dresses from Bigio Collection and unique pins from Lapel Bar by local designer Lily Hansen.
