After a tornado destroyed West Liberty United Methodist Church in March 2012, members of its Margaret Stacy Circle published a cookbook to raise money to buy stained-glass windows for the new building.
"We have sold enough cookbooks to put one or two windows in our new church, however, we still have several left to sell," Jonell Tobin said.
"The building committee has contracted with a stained-glass company from Lynchburg, Va., who says they can replicate" the windows in the old church, she said. "We can only hope they are as beautiful."
Members will sell Stained Glass Memories on Friday and Saturday at the Kentucky 4-H Volunteer Forum in Lexington at the Hyatt Regency, 401 West High Street. The cookbooks are $15. Sales of Girl Scout cookies have begun, and the new cookie this year is gluten-free chocolate chip shortbread. The bite-size cookies are made with real chocolate chips and butter, and they do not contain artificial flavors or colors, high fructose corn syrup, palm oil or hydrogenated oils.

Winter pantry staples
The ice, snow and below-zero temperatures have kept many of us cocooned at home. Before the next snowfall, you might want to add these items to your grocery list along with the milk and bread.
The cooking experts at Taste of Home said there are 10 pantry staples you'll find beneficial on a frigid day. They include:
■ Canned soups for dinner. If it's cream of anything, you can use it as a base for many dishes.
■ Beans are so versatile and loaded with protein, which will give you energy to remove the snow off your car. Smash 'em up and slather them on tortillas (stock up on tortillas, too). Or make chili.
■ Chocolate is a necessity. In times of stress, dunk a piece of chocolate into your emergency peanut butter supply. Or down a handful of chocolate chips. Or toss them into granola bars for a treat that will keep you energized.
■ Grains are a good base for meals. Stock up on easy-to-make basics such as rice, pasta and quinoa, which is also a good source of protein.
■ Pancake/baking mix can be used for so much more than just pancakes. Try whipping up some biscuits, dumplings, pot pies or sweet pies the next time you find yourself short on baking ingredients.

1 package (16 ounces) spaghetti
11/2 pounds ground beef
1 jar (26 ounces) spaghetti sauce
2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 can (103/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in spaghetti sauce and tomato sauce. Remove from heat. Drain pasta. Combine soup and sour cream. In two 8-inch square baking dishes, layer half the meat sauce, pasta, soup mixture and cheese. Repeat layers. Cover and bake 55 to 65 minutes or until cheese is melted. Makes two casseroles, 6 servings each.
