The flu is here.
The first case of seasonal flu has been reported in Kentucky in Fayette County.
Officials with the Kentucky Department for Public Health are urging residents to get a flu shot. This year's seasonal flu vaccine protects against the H1N1 strain that was prominent last year, and other strains that are expected to circulate in the state.
Supplies are abundant this year as compared to the last flu season, when long lines and shortages were common.
For more information, call the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department's flu hotline at (859) 288-7529 or go to Lexflucrew.com.
The health department will be providing free flu shots from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 22, at Applebee's Park.
