The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department has named Roanya Rice its new Public Health Officer.
Rice is a registered nurse. She has worked for the health department since 2001, most recently as the recruitment coordinator for the Kentucky Women's Cancer Screening Program. The program provides assistance to all 120 of Kentucky's county health departments and 59 breast and cervical cancer coalitions.
"The health department provides many important services, from immunizations and restaurant inspections to school health and emergency preparedness, and we will continue to find new ways to improve the health of everyone in Lexington," Rice said.
Rice, a 1996 graduate of Berea College, began her new job Aug. 15.
