Neuroendocrine Tumors: Get the Facts

When Steve Jobs passed away earlier this year, millions of people around the world read that he died of "pancreatic cancer." However, the phrasing is not truly accurate. Technically, Jobs suffered from a neuroendocrine tumor that occurred in the pancreas — a glucagonoma. A glucagonoma is a very rare tumor of the islet cells of the pancreas that over-secretesglucagon, a hormone that raises blood sugar.
