Arthritis affects women at a much higher rate than men. Sixty percent of all people who have arthritis are female, and several of the more common forms are more prevalent in women.
As a way to battle arthritis, Baptist Health Lexington has a 12-week program, Joints in Motion, which is designed to help you get motivated about exercise, healthy eating and other lifestyle changes that will lead to better joint health. Participants receive an initial overall health assessment with a registered dietitian and a certified exercise physiologist/fitness practitioner. These professionals will create a customized eating plan to help you meet your goals and an exercise plan tailored to your abilities.
Joints in Motion, administered at Baptist Health HealthwoRx in Lexington Green Mall, includes maintenance of all records, assessments, professional consultation, personalized fitness and dietary plans and unlimited exercise privileges at HealthwoRx during the program. The program fee is $75 if you are referred by a physician, and $100 for self-referrals. For details, call 859-260 MOVE (6683).
