The thousands of people who attended Quest Community Church's annual Questapalooza on Saturday found plenty to do, whether they rocked with Grammy and Dove award winners Third Day, bounced on a field full of inflatables, got a chance to win University of Kentucky football season tickets, rode bumper cars or ate their fill of festival food.
"There's a great feel. We're really excited about it," Quest assistant pastor Justin McCarty said after the party had gotten under way outside the church, which is off West Reynolds Road.
McCarty said the church started the event to "just kind of open our doors as wide as possible to say, 'You're really wanted here.'"
This is the sixth year for Questapalooza. McCarty wasn't able to provide Saturday's attendance numbers, but the event drew more than 10,000 people in 2010.
Never miss a local story.
This year, McCarty said, the celebration was intended as a kickoff for Thirty Days to Live, a new series of sermons that starts next weekend.
