US Airways will begin daily nonstop service between Lexington and Philadelphia in June.
Customers can book the new flights between Blue Grass Airport in Lexington and Philadelphia International Airport starting Saturday for travel beginning June 5, American Airlines Group, the Fort Worth, Texas-based holding company for American Airlines and US Airways, announced Thursday. US Airways and American Airlines are merging.
Reservations can be made at AA.com, USairways.com and other travel-booking services.
"We have been working to obtain nonstop service to Philadelphia for several years, and we know our business community will really benefit from the convenience," Eric Frankl, executive director of Blue Grass Airport, said in a statement.
The US Airways Express service between Philadelphia and Lexington will be operated three times a day by Air Wisconsin with a Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft.
US Airways also announced the start of service between Philadelphia and Charleston, W.Va., and Memphis.
Philadelphia will be the 15th city served by nonstop service from Lexington. Earlier this week, Blue Grass Airport announced that Allegiant Air will begin seasonal nonstop flights to Myrtle Beach, S.C., starting in late May.
