Churchill Downs announced a new three-year partnership with G.H. Mumm, which will become the official champagne of the Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs.
As part of the partnership, which begins with the 141st running the Derby on May 2, a "G.H. Mumm Winner's Circle" will be created as part of the construction of the track's $4.2 million Winner's Circle Suites and Courtyard, directly beneath the Twin Spires.
The champagne will be featured in victory celebrations and other events, including a dramatic sabering of a Cordon Rouge bottle for a pre-Derby toast, according to the news release.
Mumm is part of Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouët owned by Pernod Ricard, a leading global spirits maker. Mumm, the leading international champagne house in France and the fourth worldwide, has been a partner with the Melbourne Cup in Australia for five years.
