A libel lawsuit filed against the Lexington Herald-Leader in 2001 by former city Code Enforcement supervisor Vincent Scott has been dismissed.
Fayette Circuit Judge James Ishmael filed an agreed order of dismissal on Dec. 12. The order said both parties would pay their own costs, expenses and attorney fees.

Publisher Timothy M. Kelly declined to discuss the merits of the suit or the reasons behind the dismissal.
William C. Jacobs, the attorney for Vincent Scott, also declined to comment on the dismissal. The lawsuit, which named the newspaper and three Herald-Leader reporters as defendants, stemmed from a series of stories about substandard housing in Lexington.
