Gates Nissan of Frankfort is moving to the former Jeff Sachs Autopark property down the road, looking to expand its business with the larger property and better location.
The leadership at Gates Nissan closed on the deal June 30 and hopes to be moved in and operating by Aug. 17, executive manager Gary Marcum said.
Gates' current location and the new spot are on Versailles Road in Franklin County, but the new site is closer to the interstate. "We think there's a lot of potential because it's a much better location," Marcum said.
It is also a much bigger location, estimated to be more than six times as large as the current dealership.
With that added space, Marcum said, the dealership is thinking about other automotive franchises to add to its Nissan license.
"We want to grow," Marcum said.
Franchises are available. The closing of Jeff Sachs in July 2008 after a decade in business left Frankfort without a GM dealer. The city also doesn't have a dealer for new Hyundai vehicles, a brand that Steve Gates sells out of Gates Hyundai of Richmond.
The current site of Gates Nissan, which has been in business since 2004, has been leased by the dealership, and the property's owner could not be reached.
