A well-known Lexington eatery started operating under new ownership last week.
A group of five family members with restaurant backgrounds took over the Meadowthorpe Cafe on Leestown Road on Aug. 3, said Steve Collinsworth, one of the new owners.
Collinsworth said the new owners have worked for and managed Waffle House restaurants but always wanted to own their own restaurant.
Meadowthorpe's previous owners, Tom Polites and Brent Porter, bought the Meadowthorpe Cafe from Clay "Bo" Wallace in 1994 but were ready to hand off the business, they said last month.
