The owners of Bellini's plan to open a nightspot next door to the restaurant in time for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The nightclub, which doesn't have a name yet, will be aimed at the sophisticated clientele that patronize the upscale Italian eatery on West Main Street, said restaurant co-owner Giancarlo Marletta.
"It's quite amazing inside," Marletta said of the location, which is an open room with catwalks.
"The one thing that we found over these almost eight years of being at Bellini's is, there's a huge demand for this," he said. "All of our clientele would tell us at the end of their dinner that there's nowhere else to go afterward unless there's an opera show or something special going on."
Marletta said the nightclub, which will probably feature jazz music, will aim for a wide variety of ages but might not be for the young crowd.
"I guess it's just a little more sophisticated with an old-fashioned style taking it back almost to the old days with something a little more classic," he said.
Marletta and Bellini's co-owner Nader Iweimrin have made a deal for a long-term lease of the location, which was most recently a florist's shop and was once the Phoenix Bank, Marletta said. The two are partnering with Kerry Glass and Andy Shea in starting the nightclub.
