The Hilton in downtown Lexington announced Tuesday that it is beginning a $100,000 renovation of the Bigg Blue Martini lounge that will cap the $13 million of work done to the property since March 2009.
The renovation is expected to take three weeks and will see new furnishings added throughout the lounge as well as a new awning and planters in the patio area.
The aim is to transform the 600-square-foot lounge into a "sleek and sophisticated space that will complement last year's renovation," according to a news release.
To open up the space, the renovation calls for the removal of the columns throughout the lounge. It also will add porcelain tile flooring, pendant lighting and dark wood tables with glass tops.
The lounge will remain open during the renovation.
The $13 million renovation has touched all areas of the 367-room, 22-floor hotel. Most recently, the hotel opened its fine-dining restaurant, Triangle Grille, with a menu of locally flavored dishes.
The hotel is owned by Madison W Properties, which bought it in 2008.
