Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation announced Wednesday a statewide business plan competition that will award $30,000 in cash prizes, as well as free office space.
Called the BIG Idea Contest, it includes three phases:
■ Phase one: The Business Idea Competition runs through June 28 and participants must submit a one-page business idea summary. Five winners will receive $1,000 each.
■ Phase two: The Executive Summary Competition runs from July 12 to Aug. 20. Participants must submit a three- to six-page summary of their business plan and how they plan to commercialize it. Three winners will receive $2,500 each.
■ Phase three: The Oral Presentation Competition will be conducted during September and October. The winner receives $10,000 and a year's free rent at Kentucky Highlands' Business Innovation and Growth Center that opens this fall in London. Runners-up receive $5,000 and $2,500. Both receive six months of free rent.
