The Beef 'O' Brady's restaurant at Townley Center along Leestown Road has closed, a victim of the struggling economy.
The Beef 'O' Brady's at Palomar, which is led by a different owner, remains open.
While still doing good lunch business — ahead of last year, even — the Leestown Road location saw "dinner just drop off tremendously," said franchisee owner Keith Kildron. Dinner business was down more than 10 percent in June, July and August, he said. "I thought when football started in September that it would go up, but it didn't," he said, adding it instead declined to more than 20 percent year over year.
Kildron's lease was up Nov. 30, and he and landlord Anderson Communities could not reach a new agreement, he said.
Lesli Lawrence, commercial property manager at Anderson Communities, said the company is working to have another restaurant open soon.
Kildron has no plans to open another Beef 'O' Brady's after closing the Leestown location, as well as a Georgetown restaurant he owned that he shuttered in 2009. Instead, he said he's taken a job as a district manager at Hardee's.
