Lexington came in at 40 in Jim Beam's recently conducted survey to find the "boldest city" among 100 in America.
So what makes a town bold? According to the distiller, "bold towns are where the people are decisive; where risks are something to embrace, not avoided; and where guys are celebrated for confidently going with their gut."
The survey, conducted by Kelton Research, found that 79 percent of Lexington men "have rocked a mustache" and 8 percent "did it to impress the ladies." Nearly half of the city's men have taken part in an extreme sport like skydiving or drag racing.
Lexington edged out Louisville, which was ranked 41, but was behind Paducah at 38.
So what was the boldest city in America? Spokane, Wash.
