Central Bank, which has the highest market share among banks in Lexington, far outspent other Lexington-based banks on advertising and marketing in the first quarter. The bank spent $547,000 in the quarter, according to call reports filed with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
Here are the rankings and how they compare to the first quarter of 2010:
1. Central Bank: $547,000, up from $527,000

2. Whitaker Bank: $351,000, up from $299,000
3. American Founders Bank: $45,000, up from an amount less than $42,000. (Banks are not required to break out the expenses if they don't account for more than 3 percent of a category classified as other non-interest expense.)
4. Bank of Lexington: $36,000, down from $40,000.
Forcht Bank and Bank of the Bluegrass did not spend enough to have to break out the data. For Forcht Bank, that meant it spent less than $99,000, while Bank of the Bluegrass spent less than $23,000.
