Nursing home and assisted living costs are growing faster in Kentucky than they are nationally, according to a survey of long-term care costs by financial services firm Genworth Financial.
In Kentucky, the median annual cost of assisted living care is $35,370, with costs rising 7.9 percent annually during the past six years. Nationally, the median annual cost is $39,135 but has increased only 6 percent a year.
The cost for a private nursing home room in Kentucky has increased 5.3 percent annually during the past six years, with the median rate being $74,825. Nationally, the median rate is $77,745, but the pace of increase is lower at 4.4 percent a year.
