Kentucky Crafted: The Market, widely regarded as one of the nation's top 10 art fairs, is returning to Lexington March 1-4 for its 30th anniversary.
The annual arts and crafts fair, presented by the Kentucky Arts Council, began in 1981 at the Kentucky Horse Park. For many years, though, it has been held at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, where it boasts more than 200 exhibitors of arts, crafts, books, food and media.
Kentucky Crafted, which will be held at Lexington Center, is split into two parts. On March 1 and 2, it will be open only to business owners who will sell products in retail outlets. On March 3 and 4, it will be open to the public. In addition to items for sale, the event boasts entertainment and food.
In recent years, according to The Courier-Journal, Kentucky Crafted has attracted more than 600 wholesale buyers and 8,000 people on public days. The market will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 3 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 4. Admission is $10 adults, free for ages 15 and younger. For information, go to Artscouncil.ky.gov.
