Keeneland may be considering selling all or part of its 50 percent stake in Turfway Park in Northern Kentucky according to The Blood-Horse. Quoting anonymous sources, the racing industry publication said Caesars Entertainment, which already owns 50 percent of the Florence track, or a Caesars partner might be the buyer.
A question about Turfway's ownership arose at a meeting on Kentucky racing dates. Kentucky Horse Racing Commission chairman Bob Beck asked Turfway Park president Bob Elliston if the listed ownership was correct. Elliston said that Keeneland and Caesars were the present owners and that he could not comment further.
Keeneland spokeswoman Julie Balog said she couldn't comment on the speculation.
The KHRC must approve changes to track ownership; the commission meets on Oct. 24 and will consider 2012 racetrack license applications, but the agenda doesn't mention Caesars, formerly known as Harrah's.
