Lexington's Downtown Development Authority has named Jeff Fugate as its new executive director. Fugate succeeds Harold Tate, who retired in April after being the only person to lead the public-private agency since its founding in 2001.
"Jeff brings fresh ideas, vision and energy to our downtown at a really important time," Mayor Jim Gray said in a statement. "He will be a strong partner in our work to reactivate our urban core and reclaim it as an economic engine for our city."
Fugate works as a program manager for the Mountain Association for Community and Economic Development, which serves 54 Appalachian counties.
