Justice II family's Southern Coal Corp., has announced the expansion of its Harlan County operation with the addition of a new two-section-deep mine in the upper Harlan coal seam. This will involve an investment of $10.1 million in new equipment and the hiring of 48 employees.
The mine will produce 80,000 raw tons a month, which will be cleaned and loaded at Justice's Bardo Preparation Plant near Harlan. The coal then will be shipped via rail to Georgia Power.
