Kentucky Utilities has launched a new refrigerator and freezer recycling program. To encourage energy efficiency, the company will haul away for free up to two secondary refrigerators annually and also give you $30 in return for each.
The utility said in a statement that the refrigerators, which were often manufactured 30 to 40 years ago, can use as much as one month's worth of your energy over the course of a year.
The refrigerators will be taken to recycling partner ARCA, Inc., where they will be disassembled and properly recycled, according to the statement.
To be eligible, the refrigerators must be at least 7.75 cubic feet or larger, operational, empty and accessible for removal. Weekday, evening and Saturday appointments are available. Learn more at Lge-ku.com or call 1-800-356-5467.
