Lexington's Veterans Affairs medical centers expect to hire 19 employees as part of a national initiative to expand mental health staff.
Nationally, the Department of Veterans Affairs expects to hire 1,600 mental health clinicians and nearly 300 support staff. In Lexington, the expected hires would be 15 clinicians and four support personnel, according to a statement. Most of the hires are expected to be made within six months.
