Kentucky Sports Television, Lexington's local cable show devoted to University of Kentucky athletics, is getting a new host.
Matt Jones announced Monday that he was unable to reach a new contract with Time Warner Cable, which earlier this year acquired Insight Communications. Insight started the cn|2 channel, which appears on cable channel 2, with local weather, sports and political coverage in 2010.
Time Warner Cable spokeswoman Mary Jo Green said the show would continue with a new host, though the company does not have a time line for that hiring.
Green and Jones declined to discuss the sticking points in negotiations for a new contract.
"There's some new ownership there, and we just weren't able to do it," Jones said.
Jones came to Insight two years ago after becoming well-known as the founder of the sports Web site KentuckySportsRadio.com.
He continues to run the site and has a radio show that airs on Clear Channel stations in the state.
"This will be the first time in my life I haven't had three jobs," Jones told the Herald-Leader on Monday, adding that he wished Time Warner Cable "the best and (I) hope they're able to find something that works."
Jones said he planned to continue contributing sports segments to Lexington CBS affiliate WKYT (Channel 27).
"There may be other TV opportunities or not," he said.
Until a new host can be hired, the show will have temporary fill-in talent, Green said.
