■ Fazoli's took home the 2012 Gold Stevie Award for best human resources department during the 10th annual American Business Awards on June 18 in New York City. The company's human resources department is led by Dave Craig, vice president of human resources.
The Stevie Awards were created in 2002 to recognize good business leaders and practices.
Fazoli's is America's largest quick-service Italian restaurant and is based in Lexington.
■ Kathleen Imhoff has been selected by the American Library Association to serve as a juror on the Association of American Architects/American Library Association Library Building Award Committee. She is one of only three librarians selected for this jury, which reviews library building plans for all types of library buildings completed in 2011-12 and selects the winners.
■ Wayne A. Karem has been designated as a Diplomate of Geotechnical Engineering by the American Society of Civil Engineers. A diplomate is a board-certified engineer who has gained the credentials by achieving advanced education and experience. Karem is president of Vector Engineers, a Kentucky-based geotechnical, materials and geosciences firm established in 2001.
