In a bid to increase interest in possible development of the property, a house next to Justice Real Estate on Main Street in Lexington was being demolished on Friday.
Justice Enterprises owns the property at 522 East Main Street, at Kentucky Avenue, and the adjacent property, at 518 East Main, on which the real estate office sits.
Bill Justice, who has owned the house since the 1980s, had leased it to Saybrook Advertising for years, but the company moved a few years ago.
The house, about 3,500 square feet, is not zoned historic.
"I was approached to sell it, but I didn't want to sell," Justice said.
He said the idea in recent years was to build a 12-unit condo, but the deal with the architect fell through.
"So I just thought it was time to clear the lot," he said.
"It brings a little attention to it, and maybe someone will partner up with me and we'll get it built."
Justice said he knows who the first tenant in the condos would be if they come to fruition: himself.
"I live in a big old house out in the country," he said, laughing at the idea of living too close to his work.
"When you're in the real estate business, you work all the time anyway."
