U.S. News & World Report's annual rankings of hospitals placed three Lexington medical centers among Kentucky's top 11.
University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital was in a tie for second with Baptist Health Louisville. Baptist Health Lexington, formerly Central Baptist Hospital, was fourth. St. Joseph East was tied for No. 8 with King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, St. Elizabeth Florence and St. Elizabeth Fort Thomas.
Kentucky's best hospital, according to U.S. News & World Report, is St. Elizabeth Edgewood.
This is the 24th year that the magazine has rated the nation's hospitals.
No Kentucky hospitals were ranked nationally in the survey. Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore was ranked No. 1 in the country, followed by Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and the Cleveland Clinic.
The rankings were released Tuesday.
In a separate ranking of the nation's children's hospitals released last month, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center was No. 3, behind Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Boston Children's Hospital.
