■ The University of Kentucky's Maine Chance Equine Campus will now be known as the Dr. Walter W. Zent Mare Reproductive Health Facility to honor Zent, a veterinarian and former partner at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. Zent served on the Gluck Equine Research Foundation's board of directors from 2000-2012 and as chair from 2006-2012.
As the Gluck Equine Research Foundation chair, Zent helped obtain $600,000 in private donations, which were matched by the state, for remodeling of UK's Equine Reproductive Health Facilities. He and his wife, June Zent, donated to the facilities.
A dedication ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at Barn 26, Spindletop Way, at Maine Chance Equine Campus. The event is open to the public. RSVP to Jenny Evans at email@example.com.

■ Bowie Resource Partners, a joint venture between Bowie Resources and the Galena Private Equity Resource Fund a subsidiary of Trafigura Beheer BV, has completed the purchase of Canyon Fuel Co. from Arch Coal for $423 million in cash.
The joint venture combines Bowie and Canyon Fuel mining assets to create a competitive coal-producing company serving the western United States power generation industry and export markets via the West Coast. Based in Louisville, with a regional office in Grand Junction, Colo., Bowie Resource Partners will have more than 1,100 employees and an annual productive capacity of 17 million tons of high-grade thermal coal.
