The Lexington Minority and Women Business Training Program, a six-week training program that covers all aspects of business management from strategic planning to financial accounting, will be 9 a.m. to noon once a week beginning Sept. 25. The application deadline is Sept. 11. The cost for the program is $50, and includes breakfast each morning. To qualify, participants must have a business that is 51 percent owned by women or minorities.
Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion through UK's Small Business Development Center at a graduation luncheon. The 2013 Kentucky Association for Environmental Education Conference. Sept. 12-15, Lake Barkley State Park, Cadiz. The University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics' Institute for Business Management & Leadership Excellence will be offered in two segments, Series 1 and 2, meeting once a week at UK's Boone Center. Series 1, Professional Business Management, will meet 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4-Nov. 13. Series 2, Executive Business Management & Leadership, will meet 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 20-May 29, 2014.

■ Alltech and the Kentucky Equine Networking Association's Equine News and Brews will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Alltech's Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. The free happy hour provides a forum for members of Kentucky's equine community to hear from experts about the latest news in equine health. Featured speaker is Laurie Lawrence of the University of Kentucky's College of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
