The International Trade Administration announced Wednesday that new data show that Kentucky merchandise exports increased 14.3 percent in 2013 over 2012.
Kentucky exports grew from $22.1 billion to $25.3 billion, a record high export level for the state, according to the ITA.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker said exports continue to be an important driver for the U.S. and Kentucky economies.
The ITA reported that Kentucky's merchandise export sales in 2013 outpaced its 2012 figures in many countries, including: Saudi Arabia (up 381 percent), France (up 135 percent), Colombia (up 93 percent), the United Arab Emirates (up 79 percent), and Spain (up 51 percent).
Key merchandise export categories include transportation equipment, chemicals, machinery, computer and electronic products, and electrical equipment.
