Baptist Health hospitals earned the top two spots in Kentucky as the best hospitals for 2014-15 according to U.S. News & World Report.
The rankings were included in a news release Tuesday.
Baptist Health Lexington moved up from No. 4 in last year's ranking to claim the top in the state for 2014-15. It is considered high-performing in 10 specialties. Baptist Health Louisville again tied for No. 2, this time with last year's top-rated hospital, St. Elizabeth Edgewood. Both are considered high-performing in nine specialties.
University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital was considered high-performing in seven specialties, followed by Norton Hospital in Louisville with three specialties.
U.S. News evaluates hospitals in 16 adult specialties, including diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; gynecology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonary; and urology, according to the news release. In most specialties, it ranks the nation's top 50 hospitals and recognizes other high-performing hospitals that provide care at nearly the level of their nationally ranked peers.
The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., was named the nation's top hospital.
