The 12th Annual Lexington Bluegrass Area Minority Business Expo will be July 31-Aug. 1 at the Lexington Convention Center. The conference kicks off at 3:30 p.m. July 31 with a session for diversity managers and small business service providers and a free public reception will be 5:30-8 p.m. Chris Rabb, author of "Invisible Capital: How Unseen Forces Shape Entrepreneurial Opportunity," will speak at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 1. The keynote speaker at this year's luncheon is Wil James, president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky. An exhibition and trade show will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1. Breakout sessions begin at 9 a.m. Topics include: exporting, the Affordable Care Act, funding, how to do business with the state and federal government, how to start a business and how to form strategic alliances and joint ventures.
From 2:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 1, the One on One Opportunity Exchange provides minority and female business owners an opportunity to have private meetings with government procurement officers and private and corporate buyers. Registration is $55; small business exhibitor booths are $150 and corporate exhibit booths are $400, through July 28.
