Thai Orchid Café at 1030 South Broadway will become a brick-and-mortar version of its food truck, Thai & Mighty Noodle Bowls.
The food truck, which launched in spring 2014, will continue operating.
The restaurant owners announced Friday that on Sept. 30, the South Broadway space now occupied by Thai Orchid Café will open as an "Old World noodle cart ... with a modern twist," featuring items including red curry noodle bowl and basil beef noodle bowl, priced less than $10.
Thai Orchid will continue to operate under its current format until the "farewell to Thai Orchid event" on Sept. 27.
Thai & Mighty Noodle Bowls will be counter service only, according to the news release. Diners can choose from mobile, online or table ordering, and there will be pick up and curbside service. Delivery is to be added later.
"It's so exciting to bring our favorite sector of Thai food, Thai street food, to Lexington," owner Toa Green said. "We're excited to enter the next stage of our restaurant's journey and hope our friends will come along for the ride."
