Lexington: The Better Business Bureau serving Central and Eastern Kentucky is warning residents about the return of a phone scam that tells victims they have been “selected” to receive a free grant from the government. The scam is an attempt to steal money.
The BBB has heard from people in several counties who reported they were told they would receive $9,000 in “free government grants that they did not have to pay back.”
The federal government is not calling citizens at random promising grant money. The public may check out offers or report scams to the BBB at (859) 259-1008 or 1-800-866-6668 or email email@example.com.
